What is a 1.25 Carat Diamond?

A diamond's size is calculated into carat (ct) weight. A 1.25 carat diamond weighs the equivalent of 250 milligrams, or 0.25 gram.

The Standard

What About Size?

A diamond's carat weight will not always be demonstrated in its appearance. In fact, a 1.25 carat diamond cut and shape will sometimes give off the illusion of a larger, or smaller, diamond center stone, depending on the diamond's symmetry and proportions.

In order to appreciate the appearance of a diamond face up, one need only measure the distance across the diamond's top (or its crown). Keep in mind that a diamond's shape is not the only factor determining the diamond's appearance, a diamond with a better cut grade will appear larger while a diamond with a poor cut grade, smaller.

1.25 Carat Diamond Prices?

Diamonds are evaluated according to the diamond's 4 C's, its cut, clarity and color grades, as well as its carat weight. It is a well known fact that a diamond's carat weight will directly influence its price and that the higher the carat weight is the higher the diamond's price will be. In the case where two 1 1/4 or 1.25 diamonds are of similar cut, color and clarity grades, the larger sized diamond will be significantly more valuable than the diamond with the lower carat weight. Consequently, 1.25 carat diamonds will generally be more expensive than the standard one carat diamond.
